As You Stood By K-Drama Review | Honest Tea by Ayush

Aur bhaiyo – I mean, my people – the most awaited series of this month, ‘As You Stood By,’ has come on Netflix’s platform. And I’ve completely gulped it down!

Personally, if I talk about myself, I was excited to watch this K-drama because the makers had previously released a K-drama called Revenant. And I really liked that one a lot.

So yeah, I had some expectations in my mind about watching ‘Killer Maal’.

How good is it, how bad is it? Which audiences will like it and which won’t?

Alright then, let’s spill some tea.

Basic Detail

To finish watching this entire K-drama, you will have to go through a total of eight episodes.

It is also available in Hindi dubbing, and the Hindi dubbing is quite good.

You will see a lot of violence in it, especially against women, and there is also a somewhat partial nude scene. So if you come from a completely traditional family, don’t watch it with them.

But if your family is a little modern, then you can watch it.

This is a limited series, and there won’t be a Season 2, unlike what often happens in the Korean industry.

As You Stood By Kdrama Review

This K-drama started the year like a topper… and now it’s failing the subject without even giving the exam.

Anyway, I am coming to that as well.

But first, let me give you a little idea of the story without giving any spoilers.

So, in this story, you have to follow two friends. One of them is married, and her husband is extremely cruel, torturing her terribly.

Why is he doing this?

Is he some kind of toxic?

Or is there some other problem with him?

You will find out when you watch this series. But yes, the girl faces severe domestic violence.

So now, how will her friend help her get out of this problem?

And in the end, what will be the result of the decisions they make? To find out all this, you’ll have to watch this series.

However, when it comes to the series, I will say this: watch it.

Yes, the series is good, especially the first four episodes, which are so thrilling. They are so intense that you will enjoy them 100%.

The show mostly focuses on Hui-soo and the domestic violence happening to her, which will give you goosebumps. The makers have executed it at this level.

And in the first 15 minutes of the fourth episode, you will see a one-take shot. It was pure cinema, bro.

After four episodes, this series starts to drop a little by little. And the second half, after about five episodes, begins to feel predictable because something happens in the fourth episode that puts the character into revenge mode.

Then it becomes the typical kind of K-drama that we often watch.

That’s why the second half of this series doesn’t hit as hard.

But still, you enjoy it.

The thing is, at the start, it takes you to the very top, and then in the second half, it brings you down just as much.

Keep in mind that the series has a slow pace. So only go into it if you can adjust to slow pacing.

The story of the series is good. The Execution is also good. It’s engaging, and if you haven’t watched too many thriller shows, it could even leave an impact on you.

Even though, bro, all the actors you see, especially Lee Yu-mi, should be given every award because she has delivered a performance at this level.

To speak in Ravi Kishan’s language, Garda Uda Diye.

Otherwise, there is no major problem with the series. Its story and character development– everything is top-notch.

But the problem is that the series loses a bit in the second half. So if you can adjust to that, if you like movies or web series about domestic violence, where women face oppression and then rise against that oppression, then I would definitely recommend this–it’s a really good series. You should definitely give it a try at least once.

If I talk about my opinion, I also had a problem with the pacing because a lot of things were going very slowly.

Otherwise, I really like and really enjoy its first half. The second half faded a bit for me. But still, somewhere near the climax, when I saw my character at the end, it brought tears to my eyes.

So overall, I enjoyed it. And if I have to rate it keeping this in mind, I would rate it 7.5 out of 10 stars.

If you have watched it, write in the comment box how much you liked it.
