Cashero Review: When Superpowers Come With a Price Tag

A really amazing Korean series has just come out, and I’ve finally finished watching it. It has eight episodes, which makes it a long series, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Why I enjoyed it and who should watch it, let’s spill some tea!

Story

The series revolves around a protagonist who one day gains superpowers. But these superpowers aren’t normal. The unique thing is that he has to spend money to use them. If he has money in his pocket or account, the superpowers will automatically activate.

I noticed that outside, especially in Korea, there’s no UPI (Unified Payments Interface), so the protagonist has to carry cash all the time. They can also pay with credit cards, but I think not everyone has a credit card, which is why many people carry cash there.

Then, some very dangerous villains enter the picture. They not only want revenge on our main protagonist but also want to steal his superpowers. Some other enemies wish to recover their money from him, which amounts to billions. How will they recover it? What will happen? What won’t happen? You’ll have to watch the series to find out.

Positives

This concept of money might sound illogical at first, like “what nonsense is this?” And yes, it is a little illogical. We’ll talk about that later in the negatives. But still, the concept is explored and presented very well within the series, and the entire concept is based on a core idea. You might have heard that money is everything, and some foolish people say that happiness can’t be bought with money. That’s absolutely false. Everything can be done with money.

You can pick any episode of the series and watch it. If the hero has money, he can do anything. He can even come back to life after dying, just like Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s dialogue: “Maut ko chhu ke tak se wapas aa sakta hoon.”

The way this concept has been explored and utilized is absolutely commendable.

Also, the series features a lot of great action. Action lovers will find this series incredibly satisfying.

There are scenes with superpowers. But we can’t compare them to Marvel or DC. They look quite good considering the series’ context. And there are many different kinds of superpowers to see.

Another great thing about this series is that, unlike many movies and series where the plot goes up initially and then slowly declines towards the end, this series shockingly goes up and down, up and down, with so many twists and turns that we’re constantly surprised. Because there are so many characters, each with their own motives, we start to like and dislike each character at different times.

And much more, which makes us even more involved in the series, and our interest keeps growing.

Along with that, the series keeps raising questions with each episode, making us want to know the answers after watching an episode, which makes us even more excited to watch the next one.

While watching the series, you won’t feel any sense of obligation or forced viewing, because the series progresses very smoothly and at a good pace. It moves along quickly, which means you won’t feel bored at all.

Additionally, this series features a very beautiful love story, a truly heartwarming one. And in the 8th episode, you’ll not only witness this touching love story, but also the biggest twist, or rather, the biggest bombshell of the series, will be dropped at that very moment.

After that, it felt like they had crammed every possible element into this one series, which made me like it even more.

Negatives

The superpower shown, related to currency, implies that if the protagonist has money in his wallet, he will become more and more powerful. But one question arises if you delve a little deeper: let’s say we’re talking about Korean currency, which has a very low value, even lower than Indian currency. But suppose he had US dollars in his pocket:

  • How would his powers be affected?
  • What impact would that have?
  • How would he be able to use his powers?
  • Or if he had counterfeit currency, would his powers still work or not?

These are minor questions that we can easily ignore.

The ending might seem a little silly. Not much, just a little bit; the extremely mature audience might find it slightly silly, thinking, “What nonsense is this?” But 99% of people will really like the ending.

Also, the whole loan situation should have been explained a bit more. They should have told us a little more about that loan-giving woman. I wanted to know more about her.

These are some minor flaws, but you can easily overlook them and enjoy the series. You will definitely like the series, 101%. If you like watching Korean series, love stories, or superhero series, then you will definitely love this series too.

Conclusion

Overall, this is a very entertaining series that will not disappoint you in terms of entertainment.

I would rate this series 8/10 because I was very entertained watching it, and entertainment is the reason we watch movies and series, sometimes in theaters, sometimes with friends, sometimes with family, sometimes with loved ones, sometimes alone. If you don’t get entertainment from watching something, then what’s the point of watching it?

The series does get a little slow in the middle, but I didn’t find any other major flaws.

So, definitely go watch this series.

ayush

I don’t follow hype. I analyze it, review it, and call it out when it’s trash.
