The Korean industry has many talented actors and actresses. But Hyun Bin is a very different kind of talent. I mean, his style and choice of projects are very different from those of other Korean actors. And because of this, I think the Korean industry hasn’t yet fully utilized this actor’s true potential. And to be honest, he was the main reason I was so excited to watch this Made in Korea K-drama.
So, how is it? Did it deliver a thrilling start?
Let’s spill some hot tea.
Made in Korea Review
This Korean drama has two seasons. The first season, currently airing, will comprise a total of six episodes. The first two episodes have already been released on Disney+, and the remaining four episodes will be released on a weekly basis.
The second season will be available around summer 2026.
So far, there hasn’t been anything particularly disturbing or inappropriate. Some brutality has been depicted, but no adult scenes have been shown yet.
As I mentioned, I was thrilled to watch this captivating K-drama. But based on how it started, it hasn’t quite met my expectations. These first two episodes are quite decent, but there wasn’t anything particularly high-impact or emotionally resonant.
Before commenting on the story, I want to mention something: the first episode is very similar to the movie “Good News,” which is available on Netflix, and also has a Hindi dubbing option.
I mean, the biggest double hijacking case involving Korean and Japanese agencies is depicted in episode one. Now, I’II stop here and won’t go into too much detail because this isn’t a spoiler review. But if you’ve seen the movie “Good News,” you’ll be reminded of it a lot in episode one.
However, episode two follows a different plotline.
The simple story is that there’s an agent who wants to catch a gang. On the other hand, there’s also a prosecutor. Yes, you’ll see many different actors and actresses in this drama. For example, the main hero from “Bloodhound” is in it; you’ll find many such familiar faces in this K-drama.
On the other hand, we have another hero, a prosecutor, who is working on the same case, the one involving the gang member.
Now, when both main heroes start working on the same case, conflicts begin to arise between them. To find out what these conflicts are, you’ll have to watch this series.
So far, the events in the series feel real. I mean, I think this series is probably inspired by real-life events. The settings and background you see in the series all feel very realistic, like Dhurandhar.
For action lovers, this series is currently a bit underwhelming. There was one high-level chasing sequence in the jungle that was somewhat good, but otherwise, there hasn’t been much action or anything really exciting that would get you pumped up.
It’s a very decent start. There’s a strong political angle, as the series is going to comment on conspiracies and political maneuvering.
The political angle and the tactical game between the characters–who’s running, who’s chasing, who’s winning, who’s losing–the way this situation is presented between the leads through the drama is definitely worth watching.
Much of what comes next feels unclear. So I wouldn’t say that I’ve completely connected with the story or the characters yet.
There’s no doubt about the production quality and all that; there are no shortcomings in that regard. And if I have to comment on this series, keeping all these things in mind, I would just say, wait a little longer. Let me finish the entire series first.
Because I think this is not everyone’s cup of tea. This series is mainly targeting people who like watching political and historical dramas, especially Korean ones.
If you’re interested in state-level conflicts and past tensions, the kind we’ve seen between India-China or India-Pakistan, then this might appeal to you. Through agencies and power structures, the show reflects South Korea’s own historical conflicts in a similar framework.
So it will depend on whether you are interested in knowing their history and mysteries or not.
So you can start this series if you want to; you can definitely go ahead. But with lower expectations.
Anyway, let’s hope it won’t disappoint, and we’ll get to see some intense action, then maybe it will be more enjoyable to watch this series.
