Man vs Baby Netflix Review: Is Rowan Atkinson Still the King of Slapstick?

If you’ve watched a lot of movies and web series in your life, but haven’t seen any of Rowan Atkinson’s shows or movies, then I’m telling you, you haven’t even scratched the surface of comedy yet. I mean, this guy is the king of slapstick comedy. No, not the king, he’s a dinosaur!

In 2022, he had a show called Man vs. Bee on Netflix, which I thought was quite entertaining. And if you’ve ever seen it, Netflix has taken that theme and created another mini-series with him called Man vs Baby.

Is it any good? Is it worth your time? Let’s spill some tea.

There are four episodes. You won’t have to put in much effort. They’re only between 27 and 30 minutes long. So, if you binge-watch it, it’ll only take you about two hours.

If you’ve seen the movie Heyy Babyy or the K-drama Welcome to Waikiki, you’ll find many similarities. It’s not an exact copy, though.

There’s a guy named Trevor – not the one from GTA, that was Trevor Philips, this is Trevor Bingley – and his life is going pretty well. He’s looking for a job. But then someone leaves a baby on his doorstep.

Now his mission is to determine to whom the baby belongs.

Will he be able to return the baby to its real parents? And if not, what kind of chaos will the baby cause while living with him? And how will our protagonist survive all the antics? To find out all this, you’ll have to watch this miniseries.

Men vs Baby Review

Image not mine; belongs to its rightful owner.

Look, this isn’t some great or hard-hitting series. But if you don’t have anything else good to watch, and you’re tuning in mainly for Atkinson, sir, then it works. If you enjoy his slapstick comedy and the conflict between him and Baby, which will bring you some happy moments, then definitely give this series a try for time-pass purposes.

Otherwise, the expectations I had after watching the trailer, that I would get to see something really great, weren’t met by this series.

However, it’s a good series to watch with family; you’ll have a nice time, but it won’t really leave a lasting impression. You won’t miss anything ‘grand’ if you skip it.

Basically, think of it this way: the content is like that school girlfriend you loved dearly and wanted to confess your feelings to, and she even came to you, but unfortunately, she didn’t stay with you; she went with the guy next door.

The actors’ performances are excellent, especially Baby and Rowan Atkinson. You’ll really enjoy watching them, and the production quality of the series is undoubtedly very strong.

They’ve mainly focused on the Christmas theme. The related flavor, touch, and tone you’ll see will definitely be pleasing to the eyes.

My rating is 7/10 stars.

If you’ve already watched it, let me know how much you enjoyed it.

I don’t follow hype. I analyze it, review it, and call it out when it’s trash.
