Mardaani 3 Trailer Review: Why Shivani Shivaji Roy Still Rules Bollywood

Finally, the trailer for Mardaani 3 is out, and I must say, I loved it! It gave me the same cozy feeling you get in winter while having a hot cup of chai with a samosa.

These days, Bollywood is mostly churning out action-packed movies, but after a long time, a film with decent content is hitting theaters. This trailer is screaming that the story is going to be powerful, boss!

The 3-minute trailer for Mardaani 3 is here. So, let’s spill some hot tea!

Rani Mukerji Returns: India’s Only Hit Female Franchise

Mardaani 1 and 2 are already classics. The first part was great, but in the second part, Vishal Jethwa did an amazing job as the villain. His portrayal of a psychopath was incredible! In this movie, we see a psychopath again–but this time, it’s a female version.

Moreover, this movie is going to be based on true events.

Note that this is the only female-led franchise in India that has been consistently successful. These days, everyone is in a race to create cinematic universes, but Mardaani has already become a brand in itself.

The Cop Avatar: Raw & Real Policegiri

Seeing Rani Mukerji back in the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy brought back so many memories. Just look at her body language! No unnecessary style, no flying cars, just raw and real police work. The anger and attitude in her eyes make it seem like the movie has the potential to be a sure-shot hit. But this time, the game is a little different.

Rani vs Female Villain: A Battle of Minds

It’s worth noting that usually, there’s a male villain opposite the hero. But this time, it’s going to be Rani vs. a female villain.

Do you know what that means?

It will completely change the dynamics because, as they say, only a woman can truly understand another woman’s mind.

The villain’s role, the character of Amma, is being played by Mallika Prasad, who is undoubtedly a phenomenal theater actress. Her face is new to the audience, and that makes her even more terrifying.

Just imagine, when two such powerhouse actresses face off, the screen is bound to catch fire! The acting is going to be next level, boss.

This fight won’t just be physical; it’s going to be a battle of wits.

Dark Tone & That ‘Plastic Bag’ Scene

Image not mine; belongs to its rightful owner.

And did you see Mallika’s entry? If you noticed, that one shot from the trailer is etched in my mind – she’s carrying a dead baby in a plastic bag. Seriously, man, that moment gave me goosebumps!

This shows how dark and gritty the movie’s tone is going to be. Family audiences might find it too intense, but for thriller lovers, this is a treat. That scene clearly shows that the villain is completely psycho and pure evil.

This time, the confrontation will be very dangerous. Shivani Shivaji Roy will face more mental challenges than physical ones this time.

Script & Direction: The ‘Railway Men’ Connection

Now, there’s another reason to watch this movie: its writer.

A movie doesn’t just run on acting; it runs on writing. If you remember the Netflix series The Railway Men, it was a global hit. Its writer, Ayush Gupta, has written the story for Mardaani 3.

In The Railway Men, we saw how he builds tension and gives depth to the characters. This means the script will be strong, and the thriller elements will be powerful – you can trust the writer on that. One more thing I want to highlight: he has also written for shows like CID. But here, there will be logic, not nonsensical magic.

Final Verdict: Watch it or Skip it?

The background score also deserves praise. The sound design in the trailer is taking the suspense to the next level.

Overall, the trailer is solid. Strong writing, a menacing villain, and our favorite Rani Mukerji.

Bollywood really needs grounded stories like this right now. This movie is a must-watch in theaters because the tension will keep you glued to your seats.

The movie is releasing in theaters on January 30th. What did you think of the trailer? Do you think Mallika Prasad will be better than the previous villain, Vishal Jethwa? Are you excited for Mardaani 3? Let me know in the comments!

See you soon!

I don’t follow hype. I analyze it, review it, and call it out when it’s trash.
