I woke up early this morning and did only one thing. As soon as Stranger Things Season 5 Part 2 dropped on Netflix, I immediately started watching it. Why? Because of the level at which Part 1 ended, that moment with Will, I was incredibly excited after seeing it. I was on the edge of my seat, convinced that Part 2 would definitely deliver something unforgettable.
I hope that many people’s expectations will align with mine.
So, did Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 live up to the hype? Or did the creators build up the excitement in Part 1 only to let it fizzle out in Part 2?
Let’s spill some hot tea!
Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 Review
Volume 2 consists of three episodes, each approximately an hour long, as has been the case so far.
This isn’t the end of Season 5 yet. The finale, meaning episode 8, will be available on Netflix India on January 1st at 6:30 AM.
But if we talk about how I actually felt about Vol 2, l’ll just say that it’s going to disappoint the mass fans. I mean, if you thought Will was going to unleash hell on everyone, let me tell you, nothing like that happened.
Instead, Vol 2 takes a slightly smarter approach and tries to solve the mystery angle. The makers have saved the action, the final fights, or the war, for episode 8, which I think is kind of a good decision.
I mean, if I were to understand it this way, Part 1 was the portion leading up to the interval. And the movie peaked at the interval. And this Part 2 will work like a bridge. I mean, the portion before the climax, where you’ll mainly see what the upside down actually is. And the makers have finally solved this mystery for you.
On top of that, you’ll see a lot of puzzle-solving. The characters, from their respective sides and locations, try to solve the mystery.
The basic premise of the game is what Vecna is actually trying to do. And the tension, the atmosphere, and how the characters handle the stakes surrounding this are shown in a very subtle way by the creators, which keeps you hooked on the mystery. And you remain engaged, wanting to know what the result of all this will actually be.
And if you were thinking there would be some emotional, tearful scenes, well, nothing like that has happened yet. Just like in part 1, part 2 also leaves you hanging in the same way. You can go into it with a strong heart.
It’s being heavily criticized on the internet, and the frustration is understandable, given how long they’ve dragged it out when they could have finished it much earlier.
But if you’re a true Stranger Things fan, you’ll be hooked, wanting to know how they’ll actually tackle Vecna and his schemes. And when the mystery of the upside down unfolds, you’ll be excited to see how they handle this bigger game.
So, it is enjoyable. The only thing is that it might disappoint the mass audience, or Part 2 might feel a bit mediocre because there’s very little action. The creators have only touched upon it briefly. You won’t see many heavy fight scenes.
So, if you go in with lower expectations, you’ll probably enjoy it more. And that’s why, if possible, watch it on the night of the 31st so you can watch the finale the next morning.
The creators have set up the main plot points quite well.
Now we’re in the endgame.
Conclusion
Overall, to conclude, I’ll say that Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 is great if you’re a true fan of this franchise. Definitely grab some popcorn and a Coke and sit down to watch it. Just don’t go in with very high expectations that it will be mind-blowing. You’ll enjoy it, but the creators have saved everything for the finale.
Anyway, I won’t give it a rating yet. I’ll rate the entire Season 5 after I’ve seen the finale. But tell me, if you’ve already watched Volume 2, how much did you enjoy it? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
