The “Mirzapur” movie, which we watched in theaters for three hours and seventeen minutes, covers a story that spans basically two to three days.
So, right here and now, I’m going to explain everything in detail: the plot, the ending, the connections between characters, their hidden agendas, and those two post-credit scenes shown at the very end.
So, let’s spill some tea!
Where Does Mirzapur: The Movie Begin?
In “Mirzapur: The Movie”, with elections approaching in UP, the Chief Minister is pressuring his younger brother, JP Yadav, to amass as much funding as possible, even questioning what kind of intoxication their parents were under when they conceived him.

Meanwhile, JP Yadav is pressuring Kaleen Bhaiya, insisting they need a massive amount of money since the election is just around the corner.
Kaleen Bhaiya sends Munna to JP Yadav’s house with the cash. Once there, JP Yadav makes Munna sit down and, while taunting him, asks if he is sorry for what happened on Holi.
Instead of apologizing, Munna taunts JP Yadav with mocking gestures.
Munna has absolutely no intention of apologizing to JP Yadav.
JP Yadav then insists that Munna won’t leave until he apologizes, but Munna taunts him again with another funny gesture.
Enraged by this, JP Yadav loses his temper, prompting Munna to pull out his gun and point it directly at him.
Just then, Kaleen Bhaiya makes his entrance. When JP Yadav calls his son an idiot (“ch*tiya”), Kaleen Bhaiya delivers his evergreen line: “Ch*tiya Hai Yeh Important Nahi Hai Hmara Ladka Hai Yeh Important Hai.
Rati Shankar Shukla’s Plan to Take Over Mirzapur
Meanwhile, Rati Shankar Shukla summons all the “Bahubalis” (strongmen) for a meeting. He instructs them not to strike any deals with Mirzapur, thereby denying it profits and causing it to weaken quickly.
He explains that once Mirzapur is weakened, he will take it over.
He promises that when he rules Mirzapur, they will all share in the profits; the “Bahubalis” agree to this plan.
When Kaleen Bhaiya learns of this, he puts his business acumen to work; he realizes that he needs to generate a large sum of money for JP Yadav within a short timeframe. He understands that continuing to deal with his old associates won’t yield the necessary funds.
So, he devises a plan and tasks his trusted lieutenants Guddu and Bablu with finding a new partner or a fresh avenue that would allow them to make more money quickly.
Guddu responds confidently, saying it can be done; after all, if one searches hard enough, even God can be found, so this task is certainly achievable.
Who Is Baban Yadav and What Does He Want?
This is where the movie’s villain, Baban Yadav (played by Ravi Kishan), is introduced; he is essentially JP Yadav’s cousin, and his right-hand man is Birju Lohar.
Keep both these characters in mind, as they are crucial to the story.
Basically, Baban Yadav has absconded with a consignment of ‘Barfi’ belonging to his own partner, Bhairav Singh—the very same ‘Barfi’ that used to be traded with Lala.
He has fled with goods worth crores and is hiding in the desert, searching for a dealer to strike a deal for the stash.
Baban Yadav meets Kaleen Bhaiya through Bablu and proposes the deal.
Kaleen Bhaiya says, “Alright, let me think it over and get back to you.”
Kaleen Bhaiya sends Guddu and Bablu to Rajasthan to inspect the quality of the ‘Barfi’ and finalize the deal if the quality is up to the mark.
Bablu and Guddu travel to Rajasthan, and along the way, Bablu discovers that the consignment is actually stolen property.
Consequently, Bablu tells Baban Yadav, “Look, Bhairav Singh is hot on your trail. You are in a rush to sell, but we are in no hurry to buy. That is why we will only pay 50 percent of the price.”
Baban agrees to the deal but adds a condition: Tripathi Saab must bring the full cash amount himself so that they can extend their hospitality and foster a good future relationship.
Why Did Baban Yadav Want to Kill Kaleen Bhaiya?
Outwardly, Baban Yadav acts very sweet, but in the back of his mind, he is plotting to summon Kaleen Bhaiya and finish him off for good.
Since he wouldn’t dare touch even one of Kaleen Bhaiya’s guards—let alone the man himself—while in Mirzapur, he invites him to Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, out of sheer fear.
He has two reasons for wanting to eliminate Kaleen Bhaiya:
- Reason 1: After getting rid of Kaleen Bhaiya, he intends to claim the throne of Mirzapur for himself and use that position of power to control the entire Purvanchal region.
- Reason 2: As mentioned earlier, Baban Yadav is JP Yadav’s cousin; by killing Kaleen Bhaiya, he would avenge the disrespect shown to JP Yadav.
Why Did Beena Ji Send Kaleen Bhaiya to Rajasthan?
Meanwhile, Bauji and Kaleen Bhaiya decide that this time, they will send Munna to Baban Yadav to seal the deal.
Bauji’s reasoning was that Munna had to learn the ropes eventually; if he didn’t learn, how would he ever manage Mirzapur? That is why Kaleen Bhaiya agreed with Bauji.
Munna was all set to go handle the deal…
But then, Beena-ji throws a spanner in the works, arguing that he is still just a kid and might make a mistake. Essentially, she makes Munna look like an idiot in Kaleen Bhaiya’s eyes, effectively forcing him to go along as well.
Consequently, Kaleen Bhaiya decides that Munna won’t go alone—he will accompany him.
Now, the question crossing your minds must be: why did Beena-ji do that? Why was she so keen on Kaleen Bhaiya going along?
As I mentioned earlier, Birju Lohar is Baban Yadav’s right-hand man; keep both these characters in mind, as they are crucial to the movie.
Basically, Birju Lohar was Beena Ji’s lover before her marriage; the two were deeply in love.
At the time when Kaleen Bhaiya’s first wife Munna’s mother passed away, Bauji forcibly married him off to Beena Ji. The intention was to ensure Kaleen Bhaiya found physical satisfaction without his attention straying from his business operations.
At that time, neither Birju Lohar nor Beena-ji could do anything. However, they waited, and as soon as the opportunity arose, Beena-ji made the call to say, “Yes, I am sending him over; Kaleen Bhaiya must not survive this.”
The Jaisalmer Ambush and Kaleen Bhaiya’s Rescue
Kaleen Bhaiya arrived in the desert with his entire gang—including Guddu, Bablu, Munna, Maqbool, Compounder, and Compounder’s cousin (the short guy; I feel bad about what happened to him, as he wasn’t a bad character at all). He taught a valuable lesson about the importance of a single piece of bread in a person’s life and how one should never disrespect food; I genuinely appreciated that point of his.
Anyway
When Kaleen Bhaiya arrives in the desert, he is welcomed with a lavish party and a feast.
As everyone begins to enjoy the festivities, Babban Babua kidnaps Kaleen Bhaiya, takes him to his hideout, and leaves the rest of the gang behind to die.
A brief conversation takes place between Kaleen Bhaiya and Babban, during which Kaleen Bhaiya learns that Babban is JP Yadav’s cousin.
Meanwhile, Kaleen Bhaiya’s entire gang assembles—much like the Avengers—to wipe out Babban’s crew and storm his hideout to rescue Kaleen Bhaiya. The credit for this largely goes to Bablu, whose intellect helped pinpoint the exact location of Babban’s hideout.
Who Killed Mumtaz Bibi?
During the rescue operation, Babban’s beloved gets shot and dies instantly.
What actually happened was that Mumtaz Bibi had opened fire on Guddu and Munna while they were restraining Babban, though neither of them was hit.
Then, Chandu—the compounder’s cousin—steps into the spotlight; he grabs a gun and shoots Mumtaz Bibi.
Seeing her killed causes Babban to completely lose his composure, as he loved her deeply. He then channels a Thanos-like intensity, overpowering Munna, the compounder, Maqbool, Guddu, and Bablu all at once. It seemed as though Babban was about to finish them all off in hand-to-hand combat.
Guddu and Munna Finally Become Friends
Guddu had actually lost consciousness; it seemed as though the movie had already declared him dead.
But what happened next drew cheers—not just in my heart, but loud applause throughout the theater too. Guddu regained consciousness, charged at Babban like a bull, and sent him flying; that scene has stayed with me—I can’t forget it.
After that, Babban couldn’t really do much; it was great to see Guddu and Munna teaming up.
At one point during the fight, Babban was about to pick up a gun to kill Guddu, but Munna Bhaiya intervened, saying, “Hey, no cheating—this is a hand-to-hand fight.”
In the end, Guddu snaps Babban’s neck, killing him instantly; he also takes his father’s watch, saying he will apologize to his mother on Babban’s behalf since Babban can no longer do so himself.
In the past, Guddu’s father had pawned his watch—most likely due to financial difficulties at home.
This happened back when Guddu and Bablu weren’t working for Kaleen Bhaiya yet; they were just ordinary students.
Later, once Guddu and Bablu had entered the world of crime and made a name for themselves, Guddu told his mother to go and redeem the watch his father had pawned.
Guddu’s mother went to get the watch, but Babban Yadav wanted it for himself, as Mumtaz Bibi had told him it would look good on his wrist.
Guddu’s mother refused to let him have it, and Mumtaz Bibi suggested she keep it; however, Babban behaved rudely with Guddu’s mother and grabbed her arm so forcefully that it left a mark.
Guddu was furious about this incident and even beat up the shopkeeper.
Later, after arriving in Jaisalmer, he discovered that the man who had mistreated his mother was Babban; he then grabbed Babban’s arm tightly and left the same kind of mark on it that Babban had left on his mother’s arm.
So, Guddu promises his mother that Babban will come to their home and apologize to her in person. Just as Babban is on the verge of dying at Guddu’s hands, Guddu whispers in his ear before killing him: “You won’t be able to say sorry to my mother now, but I will say it on your behalf.”
Mirzapur: The Movie Ending Explained
After killing Babban, they set out for Mirzapur; we see Guddu and Bablu traveling in Munna’s jeep alongside Munna.
This indicates that the enmity between Guddu and Munna has ended, as Guddu had saved Munna’s life from Babban.
Yes, Babban is just about to take Munna’s life with his weapon when Guddu pulls Babban towards himself.
That is how the conflict turned into friendship; the two have now become best buddies.
And that is where the movie ends.
After this, we get to see two post-credit scenes.
First Post-Credit Scene: Who Kills Birju Lohar?
In one, we see that Birju Lohar has managed to reach Kaleen Bhaiya and Beena’s bedroom, and he attacks Kaleen Bhaiya.
Just then, Bauji arrives and saves Kaleen Bhaiya; he even recognizes the intruder as Birju Lohar—Beena’s old lover.
He is in the middle of asking Birju if Beena was the one who let him in when Beena herself appears and shoots poor Birju. It was actually sad to watch—especially with that song playing in the background: “Pritam ka kuch dosh nahi hai, voh toh hai nirdosh” (Pritam is not at fault; he is innocent)… uff.
After shooting Birju, Beena delivers a line: “Bauji, I am the daughter-in-law of the Tripathi clan now; I wouldn’t cross my own threshold. It was just love, after all… it doesn’t last a lifetime.”
And man, lovers everywhere are going to feel the burn when they hear that dialogue—get ready for it.
Was Killing Birju Lohar a Mistake?
Personally, I don’t agree with the makers’ decision to kill off Birju.
Just imagine if he had stayed alive: he could have joined forces with JP Yadav or Rati Shankar Shukla, developed and grown himself, gained power, and staged a comeback in the future with a solid plan and a well-executed attack.
Just imagine the kind of spice that would have added to the story. He possessed all the qualities needed to be a formidable villain. Plus, he had a solid motive.
The woman he loved was Kaleen Bhaiya’s wife. That is a powerful motivation; a man fighting for love possesses a unique kind of drive.
And look at his attributes: he was smart and knew the lay of the land in both UP and Rajasthan.
He understood the illegal roots in both regions.
He could have effectively expanded the business across both areas.
So, Birju Lohar had all the makings of a strong villain; I don’t know why the makers killed off such a great character.
That is one aspect I’m not entirely satisfied with.
Second Post-Credit Scene: Why Do Guddu and Munna Pull Guns on Each Other?
In the second post-credits scene, we see Munna and Guddu sitting in the same salon, getting facials.
They ask each other about their love lives.
They simultaneously name the women they love, revealing that they are both in love with the same girl.
They pull guns on each other, and the movie ends.
That scene was incredible, too; it really stuck with me.
However, within the context of the “Mirzapur” universe, the scene is quite illogical. I’ll explain that another time—for now, I’m off to get a facial myself.
