Anyone planning to watch Mirzapur: The Movie might wonder whether they need to watch Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of the Mirzapur series beforehand.
Let me tell you: you absolutely don’t.
Today, we’ll recap the specific episodes from Mirzapur Season 1 that matter for this movie; in fact, the film’s story is built on events from those very episodes.
This means the movie isn’t connected to Seasons 2 or 3 of Mirzapur. It is linked to Season 1, but not every episode.

How Guddu and Bablu Became Kaleen Bhaiya’s Biggest Assets
The story begins when Munna Bhaiya, while dancing at a wedding, shoots the groom.
After that, Guddu Bhaiya and Bablu Bhaiya’s father take the case.
When Munna Bhaiya goes to their home to threaten him, Guddu Bhaiya gives him a sound thrashing.
Then, Kaleen Bhaiya summons Guddu and Bablu to his residence and gradually inducts them into his business.
Essentially, Kaleen Bhaiya was impressed by Guddu and Bablu; these ordinary-looking guys had thrashed the son of a powerful don, beating him up thoroughly even though Munna was armed with his shotgun.
And let’s set the shotgun aside for a moment; he even had his associates, Compounder and Lalit, with him, yet Munna returned injured.
Kaleen Bhaiya was deeply impressed, or perhaps shocked, by the fact that Guddu and Bablu possessed true grit and feared no one.
That is why he felt they were the perfect fit for the job; he even consulted Maqbool through gestures about what to do, and Maqbool responded in kind, effectively signaling his agreement.
As a result, both Guddu Bhaiya and Bablu Bhaiya take Kaleen Bhaiya’s business to new heights.
Bablu relies on his intellect, whereas Guddu relies on physical strength.
Naturally, Kaleen Bhaiya becomes deeply impressed by the duo and brings them into his opium trade as well.
Meanwhile, Munna Bhaiya grows increasingly resentful, as he feels sidelined.
Gradually, Guddu and Bablu expand their influence across Mirzapur, leading to significant business growth.
Everything is going smoothly, but then they call a meeting.
Guddu Bhaiya’s Most Important Announcement: Why You Must Watch Episode 5 or 6
In the fifth episode, we see that Guddu and Bablu have significantly expanded the gun business. Guns are used everywhere for both attacks and defense; Guddu Bhaiya is essentially turning Mirzapur into America.
There is also a very important scene where Guddu Bhaiya takes his mother to the crowded market, thrashes a shopkeeper, and declares that if one wants to live in this city, one must remember the names “Guddu Pandit” and “Bablu Pandit.” You have surely seen this scene.
What Happens in Mirzapur Season 1 Episode 6?
Guddu Bhaiya says that the story is actually a continuation of this sixth episode. So, what actually happens in it?
In the sixth episode, we see a scene set during the Holi festival involving JP Yadav, Kaleen Bhaiya, and Munna; they organize a gathering featuring a dance performance. You might recall Kaleen Bhaiya signaling for cash to be sent to JP Yadav’s car.
Then, while Munna is dancing—completely lost in the moment—with the ‘item girl,’ JP Yadav suddenly slaps him across the face. This is the moment that gives us Kaleen Bhaiya’s famous dialogue: “Ch*tiya hai yeh important nahi, Hmara ladka hai yeh important hai.” You surely remember that line.
In the same episode, Maqbool threatens Rati Shankar, warning that if there is another attack on Munna—or if anyone is sent to target him—he will have Sharad Shukla attacked in retaliation.
Terrified by the threat, Rati Shankar Shukla backs down and promises never to do it again.
JP Yadav brokers a truce between Kaleen Bhaiya and Rati Shankar, ensuring neither side attacks the other moving forward.
This episode also introduces our police officer, Maurya—played by Amit Sial—who arrives intending to take down Kaleen Bhaiya, though the move ultimately backfires on him.
Towards the end of the episode, we see how Bablu cleverly involves the “Kinnars” (transgender community) in the opium trade to ensure the smooth supply of the contraband.
Finally, Guddu and Bablu acquire a sky-blue car and have the words “Lions of Mirzapur” inscribed on it.
